  "I have been told for years that my symptoms were either in my head or not as bad as I had been making them out to be. I have had weight gain, mood swings, horrible cycles, hot flashes, and just about every other symptom related with Menopause for almost 4 years before I found Dr. Rabin.

          I felt like I was crazy! How on earth could a 20 something woman with no children be feeling like this?!? I had done some research online and then I happened to catch an episode of Oprah with Suzanne Sommers talking about bio identical hormones. The symptoms and problems of all the women on that show corresponded with my own. This put me on a mission to find the best bio identical Doctor in Atlanta and go to them. I was desperate; they must have an answer for me, something, and anything to help me out. I could not imagine living the next 50 years of my life feeling this way. I can still remember clearly the first thing he said to me after hearing my complaints, “You are not crazy... this is happening.” As I’m sure you can imagine I was absolutely delighted to hear those words! He told me that I had the symptoms of estrogen dominance and possibly an underlying thyroid problem. I was given a list of supplements to begin and had my blood work done. The next time we spoke Dr. Rabin explained that his suspicions were correct and that I had both problems and immediately prescribed treatment for me.

          This was 6 months ago and since then we have been working to get my thyroid levels to normal. As for my estrogen dominance problem, let me tell you for the FIRST time in my LIFE I have not had a heavy horrible cycle! "At 43 my monthly symptoms of cramping, heavy periods, no energy and mood changes finally had just taken their toll. I have always dealt with these symptoms but they seem to have increased in severity over the past few years. The final straw for me was the inability to sleep.

"I was very physically active, normal weight woman who had a much better than average diet compared to most women. Because of this, I was shocked at the difficulty I had when I hit menopause. I had hot flashes, weight gain, and panic attacks. I felt extremely edgy in my own skin and just couldn't sleep through the night.   This is from FG Who had laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy Thursday evening; went home Friday afternoon and wrote this to Dr. Rabin on Sunday:
"Just wanted you to know that I'm doing really well.  I was really fine coming home Friday afternoon.   "My GYN retired....which was some what of a shock since I had been seeing him for YEARS!! So, when I was asked to pick someone new I was a little apprehensive. "Bear with me, please. This may be wordy, but Dr. Rabin is so AWESOME, I refuse to mince words! In fact if I could put a title on this posting, it would be: DR. RABIN IS AWESOME!!! All the testimonials you will read from the women who posted here are not giving him nearly enough credit and their praise is genuine, as is mine. I have to say, prior to seeing Dr. Rabin (which happened on accident, actually!), I was one of those women who was very adamant about only wanting to see a female gynecologist because men blah blah blah.

So, naturally, I was nervous about seeing him at first, but as soon as he walked into the room I immediately got the sense of his good nature and his genuine interest in me as a patient (he had me at 'Hello!'). He took the time to speak with me and listen to my issue and allowed me to ask as many questions as I needed to until I was satisfied. Now, I thought maybe this was just how they treat you the first time (you know how some doctors reel you in then forget about you during subsequent visits?) but when I had to go back again, I was (once again!) very surprised and proved totally wrong. Dr. Rabin was just as enthusiastic about my treatment and treated me like a human being, not just another patient he had to see that day. He is an unbelievably amazing doctor.

I have to agree with the assertion in one of the other testimonials that he can't retire. EVER. After seeing Dr. Rabin the first time, I was going on and on and on about how AWESOME he was because visiting him is so pleasant it's almost more like a social visit. Please don't take that statement out of context and begin thinking that he is not serious enough or just goofs off (even though he is hilarious!) because he is very thorough when it comes to your care. He will make sure you understand what's going on and how to treat it, if necessary. My other point here is that I talked him up so much that my sister was beginning to wonder if I was addicted to going to the gynecologist. In the end, However, she decided to go see him herself. After her visit, she called me up and I believe her exact words were, "I went to see Dr. Rabin today and I see exactly what you mean...he is AWESOME!!" The moral of the story here is threefold: 1) Dr. Rabin is AWESOME. 2) His beside manner (so to speak because it's more like a, uh...table? in there) is so pleasant and he takes such an interest in your care that I think it will make you more likely to take a more active interest in your health. Which is important because the more you dread going to the doctor the less likely you will be to go, right?

Luckily, there is a solution for that when it comes to your gynecological health.
